On Friday, Thrasher announced its 2007 Skater of the Year award will go to Marc Johnson. Here's a quick flash clip of the man in action and some clips via the Lakai site while you wait for the Lakai Fully Flared DVD to drop in stores on December 7: I missed the premiere last week, but word is he's got a scene-stealing last part that will blow your mind. How does he wrap his brain around all these crazy tricks? Click around on his Lakai team page for a bewildering interview about The Flower of Life and sacred geometry.
If you feel like wasting some time today engaging in the post-SOTY announcement mudslinging, click over to throw your sophomoric voice in on the Thrasher comments page, where a lot of people seem to have been pulling for Dan Drehobl, a few brave souls have suggested Ryan Sheckler at risk of enormous ridicule, and somebody even said Jake Brown deserved it, perhaps thinking the S in SOTY stood for "slam." Jake Brown, Slam of the Year, hands down. Let's hope nobody ever outdoes it.
Somewhat SOTY-related: There's also word on the Thrasher site that the 2007 King of the Road video might be ready in time for a premiere at the Skater of the Year party in San Francisco. Translation: One hell of a party.
